Finland and

(finlandatexpo2010.fi)
Around 20 Finnish organizations, both private and public, take part in this year’s “EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair IV”. The main theme of the Finnish participation is sustainability.
Finland is one of the most advanced countries in the world in creating sustainable solutions. At the 2009 EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair IV, this competence is represented by several regional business clusters and companies from Finland. Their products span from the non-wood and non-wood-based process technologies and production solutions to designing and supplying machinery and process systems for electrical and electronic scrap and construction waste. The Finland Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010 provides one concrete example of sustainable solutions in construction. After the Expo, the Finnish pavilion, “Binghu” will be dismantled and moved to another place in China or elsewhere to be re-assembled for later use.
Finnish relations with Chengdu, Sichuan and the Western China area have developed rapidly during the past few years. For example, several Finnish companies like Nokia Corporation, world’s leader in mobile solutions, have established themselves in Chengdu. Last year, after the tragic earthquake in Sichuan and the neighbouring areas, Finnish companies and individuals quickly came together and launched a project to build a primary school to the Sichuan area. The school was opened on September 29 in Guanghan city and will serve around 200 children from four villages.
