Themed as "Charming city, a garden on the sea", the Xiamen Pavilion is set to open to global tourists during the upcoming Shanghai World Expo.
The 630-square-meter Xiamen Pavilion will be the first pavilion to make it's debut in the Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA) of the Shanghai Expo. According to reports, it is the first time that the Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA) is to be introduced into the World Expo. At present, there have been 80 cities confirmed that are participating in the exhibition.
Featured with strong Xiamen elements, the pavilion will highlight the efforts and achievements Xiamen has made in improving the living environment, creating a warm and livable home and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
During the Expo, Yi Zhongtian, a famous and popular professor at Xiamen University, and Chen Weihong, a Xiamen-born CCTV anchor will be the ambassadors to introduce their Xiamen impressions and personal experiences to tourists from all over the world.
From May 2 to 4, different themed performances and shows will be displayed at the pavilion, such as the Bobing custom in Mid-autumn Festival, a Gulangyu family piano concert and Minnan Kongfu tea. Other Xiamen featured arts such as Nanyin, Gaojia Opera and Minnan dances and songs will also be presented.
Xiamen will showcase its charm to the world and promote investment invitation through this platform, according to the Expo 2010 Shanghai China Xiamen Office.
The 2010 Shanghai Expo China is already well-known to the world for its high standard, deep influence and wide platform in the grand tradition of international fairs and expositions. The theme of the exposition will be "Better City - Better Life".
The Expo will take place from May 1 to October 31, 2010 in Shanghai.
