2010. 23 January

(CCTV)Visitors to the Shanghai World Expo will have the chance to see some of the best treasures from both the Beijing and Taipei Palace Museums. They will come together to stage an exhibition of ancient paintings and calligraphy offering a rare opportunity for visitors from around the world to appreciate a reunion of their precious collections.

Two versions of the famous Chinese painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival " will be on display.

The Beijing Palace Museum will present the original which dates back to the Song Dynasty. It depicts a booming Chinese city using traditional Chinese painting skills.

The second painting of the same name and in the Taipei Palace Museum's collection was created in the Qing Dynasty. The painter was evidently influenced by western styles.

Another highlight at the exhibition will be a calligraphy scroll and box made of precious wood, brought together again after being separated for years.
