China Eastern adds flights for Expo 2010

2010. 26 January

(alternativeairlines.com) China Eastern Airlines, based in Shanghai, is increasing its flying programme to facilitate some of the 70 Million visitors expected at EXPO 2010 from May 01st to October 31st this year.

The airline is allocating 12 extra aircraft to serve the city, increasing its total number to 108.
"We will add 300 flights weekly in Shanghai during the Expo period to and fromShangai's Hongqiao International airport," said Ma Xulun, general manager of the airline.

In a separate announcement China Eastern Airlines has said that it remains committed to choosing an alliance by the Feb. 14 2010 and is negotiating with each of the three global groupings, Oneworld, Star Alliance and SkyTeam.

Competitor China Southern Airlines has been a member of SkyTeam since and Star will lose Shanghai Airlines once it merges with China Eastern later this year.
