Shanghai's new aviation terminal
2010. 12 February
(chinaeconomicreview.com)
The west-region expansion project of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport will have its No. 2 aviation terminal and a new runway running by March 16, making Shanghai the first city equipped with two aerodromes and five runways in China.
A new aviation terminal of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is scheduled to be operational on March 16, 2010, with 11 domestic air carriers, such as Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.
Once these airways move to the No. 2 terminal, the last one left will be Spring Airlines, the only low-cost air carrier in China. However, an insider yesterday revealed it was still in negotiations with the aerodrome about the future utilization.
Trading Markets said that the project had been priority to be ready in time for the start of the Shanghai World Expo.
