by Nuku'alofa
(matangitonga.to) The first audition of Tongan women and men dancers took place at the Tongan National Centre at Tofoa last Saturday, 13 February to hand-pick Tonga's best dancers to perform at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China in September.

"Our traditional dances are more appealing than our neighbours, and our people are the most beautiful in the region. We are going to compete with our Pacific Island Neighbours at the Expo and we need to carefully pick our best that will be available to represent and expose Tonga at this world great event," said Saia Moehau, the Vice-Chairman of the National World Expo Committee.

A final audition will be held this Saturday, 20 Feb, at the Tonga National Centre, Tofoa, starting at 10am, and anyone who wishes to participate may come along. Everyone is welcome. Call Manatu at 25334 to register your participation at the Audition tomorrow, or just show up at the Tonga National Centre and show us your talents.

The sub-committee is looking for 16 dancers, 8 men and 8 women, to be in Shanghai and to travel on Road shows to different parts of China for approximately 1 to 2 months.
