Premier's Expo Hopes

(english.eastday.com) Premier Wen Jiabao says the 2010 Shanghai World Expo will be an opportunity to enhance friendship between China and other countries.

In an online chat, Wen said: "The Chinese people yearned to host a World Expo for more than a century. Although we have participated in 12 World Expos, this one will be the first we host."

The government attached great importance to the event, which would boost understanding between China and the rest of the world, he said.
