Installation complete for first offshore wind farm Outside Europe

Shanghai Donghai Bridge, the first offshore wind farm Outside Europe was successfully installed. The Shanghai Donghai Bridge 102MW offshore wind power demonstration project was successfully installed upon connection of the 34th wind turbine to the offshore pile cap.

Shanghai Donghai Bridge, the first offshore wind farm Outside Europe was successfully installed. The Shanghai Donghai Bridge 102MW offshore wind power demonstration project was successfully installed upon connection of the 34th wind turbine to the offshore pile cap.
The Shanghai Donghai Bridge is located in the administrative waters of Shanghai east of the Donghai Bridge, 8-13km from the shoreline, with an average water depth of 10 meters.
The project is offshore wind farm is the first offshore wind power project outside Europe and China’s first national offshore wind power demonstration project. The total installed capacity is of 102 MW.
34 Sinovel 3 MW offshore wind turbines were installed for the project, which is expected to meet the needs of over 200,000 Shanghai households, with a planned annual power output expected to reach 260 million kWh.
A submarine cable will transmit the electricity to mainland Shanghai. The project will reduce the carbon dioxide emission by 200,000t and save 100,000 tons of coal each year.
The first three wind turbines have already been put into operation, passed the 240-hour test, and all together generated 7.35 million kWh of electricity. Before the opening of Expo 2010 Shanghai, the wind farm will put all its wind turbines into operation to supply clean energy for this grand world event.
