2010. 9 March
German industrial conglomerate Siemens AG says it is supplying more than euro1 billion ($1.37 billion) in infrastructure for the Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
Siemens said Monday it supplied products for more than 40 projects on the Expo grounds, such as lighting and mass transit, to ensure visitors can be accommodated in an environmentally friendly manner. The Munich company also provided power generation equipment to the city of Shanghai.
The Expo, dubbed the world's first "green" world exhibition, will showcase solutions for sustainable urban development. The Expo opens May 1, and is expected to attract about 70 million visitors.
