Brunei-China Tourism Has More Room To Grow

2010. 11 March

by Azlan Othman
(brudirect.com) Bandar Seri Begawan - The outgoing Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Madame Tong Xiaoling, paid a courtesy call on one of Brunei Darussalam's most prominent businessmen, Pehin Goh King Chin of GHK Motors Sdn Bhd yesterday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further enhance trade and tourism in the Sultanate and China. Pehin Goh expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for their assistance in bringing in two Chinese vehicle franchises namely "Geely" and" ZX Auto".

According to Pehin Goh, Brunei and China, which established diplomatic relations in 1991, continue to enjoy warm and friendly relations. In April 2005, Chinese President Hu Jintao made a visit to the Sultanate.

As tourism between Brunei and China is still "very small", Pehin Goh hoped that the tourism boards of both countries could work closely to increase the level of trade and to take tourism to the next level.

With the support of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, he is confident that growth in trade as well as tourism would be possible.

Furthermore, with the resumption of a direct air-link between Bandar Seri Begawan and Shanghai from March 28, 2010 onwards, the influx of tourists and businesspeople is expected to increase.
