Shanghai Expo to promote new lifestyle for future

(mcot.net) The Shanghai Expo is expected to showcase a new lifestyle for the future in terms of low carbon emission and green revolution, said an Expo organizer on Wednesday.


"The hosting country of China is doing all its must to lead a kind of lifestyle of low carbon emission," said Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the Executive Committee of Shanghai Expo 2010 during an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet.

For instance, he said, the exposition is to generate electricity through 4.6-megawatt solar power generators, the largest project within a single event in Shanghai.

The Expo has also adopted lots of materials for construction, even for the facilities surrounding it to be energy saving, said Zhou, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Meanwhile, automobiles within the 5.8-sq km site are using mixed energy to yield zero emission.

On the part of other participating countries and organizations, Zhou said most of them are doing their best in a way to demonstrate and exhibit their understanding of the new technology as well as the very highly regarded products in this regard.

The Shanghai Expo which will run from May 1 to Oct. 30 will apply the latest technology from around the world which is designed to highlight the theme "Better City, Better Life."

The event, first to be held in a developing country, is expected to draw 70 million visitors to the exhibits from some 192 countries and 50 international organizations.
