Local and Foreign Companies Partner with UAE Pavilion

2010. 21 March

(tmcnet.com) Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company /Masdar/, Chinese Telecom Company, Huawei, and a number of interested companies and organizations in UAE have been awarded Partnership status based on their contributions to UAE s ground-breaking Expo 2010 Shanghai pavilion project.

H.E. Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the National Media Council described the move as one supported by the UAE Government
and aimed at broadening the impact of the country s Expo participation, both in China and in UAE.

"This is not the kind of project that we can, or should, implement in isolation from the business and development community in the UAE", he said. "I welcome the support of these organizations that have recognized the tremendous advantages to be gained from Expo 2010 and the Federal perspective that presents the whole country to the people of China and indeed the World." "There is no doubt that this is a prestigious project that is being completed to the highest international standards with the help of a strong UAE team supported by many award-winning companies. Our pavilion, inspired by sand dunes, has made a strong statement on the Expo site. It is original and inextricably linked to our country. We plan to show visitors how we have grown since establishment of the federation in 1971, and how we are continuing to grow, using Best Urban Planning Practice and guided by wise leadership".

Masdar will showcase aspects of its internationally acclaimed sustainable energy programme to visitors and invited delegates. The company is installing a unique presentation of its work in a purpose-built Business Centre on the mezzanine level of the pavilion. The Masdar display will run from the opening to 21 May and be followed by other displays run by partners.

"Masdar is a very important contributor to realizing the theme of Expo 2010: Better City Better Life" , commented Salem Al Ameri, UAE Expo Project s Commissioner General "We are grateful for their interest and support and look forward to working closely with them to ensure that their participation does indeed strengthen our presence in Shanghai." Al-Ameri also welcomed the contribution from Huawei, the Chinese Telecom company which provides key elements of the technical infrastructure and backbone of many well-known telecommunications operators including both Etisalat and Du.

"We expect the UAE Pavilion to be a very busy place during Expo and one that can strengthen friendships and build bridges across a wide variety of interest groups. Huawei s contribution will help us to further raise awareness in China and to achieve our aims," he said.

During his meeting with Minister of Labour to discuss his company's contribution, Huawei s General Manager said: "We have been very successful in our UAE operations. We have found the business climate here to be both transparent and welcoming and we really appreciate that. As a company we are committed to building long term relations based on mutual respect and understanding. This contribution is one way that we have chosen to say thank you to the UAE and its people." A special promotion at the UAE Pavilion, running throughout the period of Expo, from 1 May to 31 October is the Dream Journey promotion whereby people in China may win especially created holidays in the UAE.

In addition, Dubai Tourism & Commerce Marketing /DTCM/ in conjunction with its partners, is providing ground handling for the holidays. "We welcome all these Partners and thank them for their generosity and vision in recognizing the benefits of this federal tourism promotion," stated Mr Al Ameri.

Discussions are continuing with a number of other key organizations and new partnerships will be announced over the coming weeks, prior to Expo 2010 opening on 1 May.
