The city's Expo court, set up to deal especially with civil and commercial disputes related to the 2010 World Expo, opened for business yesterday.
The court, under the Pudong New Area People's Court, is on Dezhou Road, near the Expo site. It will handle all civil and commercial lawsuits within the 4.5-square-kilometer Expo site and on traffic routes to the site, as well as Expo-related cases that crop up elsewhere, officials said.
"In this way, cases happening in the Expo site that spans three districts will be accepted more quickly and dealt with more effectively," said Ding Shouxing, director of the Pudong court.
Disputes over pavilion construction, tickets, insurance, logistics, transport, accommodation, tour contracts and personal and property damage will come before the court.
So far, six cases, all disputes between companies, have been accepted by the Expo court.
Expo-related criminal, intellectual property and administrative cases will be tried by professional panels in the Pudong court.
