Golden Eagle International Group joins as a founding partner US Pavilion

2009. 2 June

(usapavilion2010.com) The USA National Pavilion organizers are delighted to announce that Golden Eagle International Group, under the leadership of its Chairman and CEO Mr. H. Roger Wang, has joined the USA National Pavilion effort as a Founding Partner.

Golden Eagle International Group began as a real estate development company and has evolved into a conglomerate, maintaining not only its initial focus on real estate but also becoming a premier retail business operating a chain of high-end department stores in China.

Mr. Wang is also a member of The Committee of 100, which is a national U.S. non-partisan organization composed of American citizens of Chinese descent. His contribution is a part of the Committee of 100’s support for the USA National Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.

During the six-month duration of the Expo, Mr. Wang plans to have Golden Eagle proudly showcase its heritage of real estate and department store operations in China within the USA National Pavilion, putting its emphasis on its promotion of American brands and commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Ellen R. Eliasoph, Co-Chair of the USA Pavilion, remarked, “We are proud to welcome Golden Eagle as a Founding Partner of the USA National Pavilion.  The Group has a long history of promoting US brands in the China market and of acting as a responsible corporate citizen in the communities where it operates.  We look forward to receiving the benefit of the insights of Chairman Wang and his management team and to collaborating with them on USA National Pavilion community outreach initiatives.”

“We are delighted to welcome Golden Eagle as a Founding Partner of the USA National Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai,” said the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai, Beatrice Camp.  “Golden Eagle’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is a wonderful fit with the USA National Pavilion’s call for us all to work together to create a greener, healthier world.”

“The Shanghai 2010 World Expo offers an unparalleled opportunity to demonstrate how the U.S. and China are working to create “Better Cities and Better Lives” by improving the quality of life and of people’s lifestyles.” said Roger Wang.  “I am proud to commit Golden Eagle to participate as a Founding Partner of the USA National Pavilion at this first-ever World Expo to be hosted by China.  We plan to utilize this history-making opportunity not only to showcase our corporate tradition of successful real estate and retail management here in China but also to show how, as a Chinese-American, I can “give back” to my heritage and community while supporting the Shanghai World Expo through the USA Pavilion.  I know that my fellow C-100 members strongly support us in this endeavor. ”

John Chen, Chairman of the Committee of 100, remarked “The Committee of 100 is proud to support the USA National Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, which will serve as an important bridge of understanding between the peoples of the United States and China.”

The 2010 Shanghai World Expo will be held from May 1 through October 31, 2010 with a projected 70 million attendees, 95% of whom are expected to come from Mainland China.  This will be China’s first role as host of a world expo, and already over 190 nations have committed to participate.

At over 60,000 square feet, the USA National Pavilion will be one of the largest pavilions at the Expo.  It will showcase American culture, values, and businesses in China’s most dynamic city, while at the same time celebrating the friendship and cooperation between the U.S. and China.

In accordance with U.S. legal requirements, the USA Pavilion is being operated through a non-profit organization.  The entity, Shanghai Expo 2010 Inc., is co-chaired by Ellen R. Eliasoph and Nick S. Winslow.  The U.S. Department of State is prohibited by U.S. federal law from spending appropriated funds in international expositions.  Therefore, U.S. private sector participation is essential to raise the necessary funds to design, build and operate the USA National Pavilion.
