With its demographic growth and constantly increasing rate of
urbanization, China
has considerable housing and infrastructure needs. The country is therefore
looking to build, but differently, by incorporating environmental constraints.
The Shanghai World Expo has therefore been given the theme of the city.
Urban planning, architecture and sustainable construction will be at the heart
of the exhibition. These issues reflect the Group's priorities and it is
therefore partnering the event in order to:
- contribute to consideration of the new challenges for urban planning practices,
- promote innovative, environmentally-friendly solutions, adapted to the problems faced by Chinese cities.
Lafarge is partner the France Pavilion. Architect Jacques Ferrier's "Sensual City"
project is an innovative building which reflects the French identity.
Inside the pavilion, the Group will present its businesses in China,
its products and the "Living Infrastructure" project carried out in
collaboration with architect Marc Mimram.
