Tourism Australia to woo VIP buyers at Shanghai Expo

2010. 19 April

Tourism Australia will showcase Australia’s credentials as a business events destination to around 60 corporate end users at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Tourism Australia’s managing director, Andrew McEvoy, said the initiative presented a unique opportunity to build on the achievements of TABEE 2010.

(impactpub.com.au) “Asia’s rebounding economy is creating new prospects for Australian business events operators and events such as TABEE and Expo 2010 offer an invaluable stage to meet
face-to-face with potential buyers,” said McEvoy.

A sixth-month long event, Expo 2010 will bring an estimated 70 million visitors to China’s largest city.

On June 18, Tourism Australia will invite the group of 60 buyers to “see the pavilion, experience our country” and hear about Australia’s business events facilities.

The group will later join Tourism Australia’s North Asia in-region managers, participating convention bureaux and destination representatives at a gala dinner in the pavilion to experience the quality of Australian food and wine.

Tourism Australia’s regional general manager for North Asia, Johnny Nee said the function aimed to generate future business for Australia’s business events sector.

“Expo 2010 will provide an excellent platform to build relationships between Australia’s  leading convention bureaux and some of our most valued corporate clients in China, the  Republic of Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan,” said Nee.
