Cuba at Shanghai 2010 World Expo

The Cuban pavilion at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo opened this Saturday as the fair got underway. This year, the motto of the expo is: “A Better City, a Better Life”.

This year, as Cuba and China celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Expo
provides yet another opportunity to renew and strengthen
political, economic, commercial and cultural ties between
the two countries.
Presiding over the opening ceremony at the Cuban pavilion was Cuba’s First Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment Orlando Hernandez, Cuba’s ambassador in Beijing Carlos M. Pereira, and the Vice President of Cuban Chamber of Commerce Odalys Seijo.
On April 25th, the Cuban pavilion held a pre-opening event which attracted hundreds of visitors for its original architecture, the colors on its facade and the nice Caribbean atmosphere created inside.
At the Cuban pavilion, people from around the word will be able to sample and attest for the quality of typical Cuban products, like Habano cigars and Havana Club rum.
The organizers of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo expect the attendance of millions of people from around the world. The Expo will remain opened until next October.
