European Parliament President visits Russian pavilion

(en.rian.ru) President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek visited Russia's Expo-2010 pavilion in Shanghai on Saturday.
Russia has constructed its own pavilion at the exhibition for the first time in 30 years. The 6,000-square-meter sun-shaped pavilion, dominated by fairy-tale motifs, comprises 12 white-and-gold towers symbolizing the 12 months of the year, showing a comfortable city environment as seen through the eyes of children.
After viewing the pavilion, Buzek told staff he was enraptured by the display.
"The children's world is the world of the future; this is a marvelous idea!" he said, adding in Russian "ochen khorosho [very good]!"
He also left a note in the book for the pavilion's honored guests, in which he said he was grateful to have had the opportunity to view such an original exposition.
Since its opening, the Russian Expo pavilion has attracted more than 100 high-ranking guests and 700 thousand visitors in total.
Xinhuan news agency reported that 37.7 million tickets to Expo-2010 have already been sold and the total number of visitors has already reached 6 million.
The organizers of the exhibition predict the event, which ends on October 31, will attract over 70 million visitors.
