China pavilion features Qin Shihuang's bronze chariots

2010. 3 June

The first bronze chariot in the tomb of Emperor Qin Shihuang, a Chinese national cultural treasure, were officially unveiled in the first exhibition area of the China pavilion at Shanghai World Expo.

(life.globaltimes.cn) The chariots joined another treasure at the China pavilion: the Ming dynasty painting Qiu Ying's "Riverside scene at Qingming Festival."

The first bronze chariot is two-wheeled and drawn by four horses. It weighs a total of 1,061 kilograms including the solider in charge of the chariots and the canopy.

This is the first time the bronze chariot has left the Qin Shihuang Terracotta Warriors Museum to travel thousands of miles away and be shown in public since it was unearthed in 1980.
