The event will be held at the Nordic national pavilions and will feature speeches and panel discussions from experts and leaders from the public and private sector. Among the confirmed speakers are Nordic ministers Karen Ellemann from Denmark and Jan Vapaavuori from Finland, as well as experts such as Bo Diczfalusy of the IEA and Professor Jiang Kejun from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission of China
"For the Nordic region and the world, China is an increasingly important player in the development of sustainable energy systems and technologies. New solutions are being developed quickly and implemented at a rapid rate. To contribute and become involved in this key growth potential, the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden must investigate the opportunities that strategic co-operation with China has to offer. This applies to both exchange of knowledge and collaboration with industry" says Anne Cathrine Gjærde, Director of Nordic Energy Research.
All parties stand to benefit from networking and a reciprocal exchange of knowledge and experiences in sustainable energy systems and technologies. By commissioning the Nordic-Chinese Energy and Climate Day the Nordic Council of Ministers aim to foster mutual understanding of the challenges and solutions found in the Nordic countries and in China, and to promote a process of further R&D cooperation between the countries.
