Australia leveraging pavilion site for events

2010. 21 June

(etravelblackboard.com) In an effort to strengthen ties with China, Australia’s Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 has hosted a myriad of events over the past five weeks since its debut.

Shanghai-based Off-Site Connections Event Management (OSC), which works with a number of Australian companies to stage events at the pavilion,
said last week it had been kept busy with a cocktail soirees, lunch and dinner events.

It said the Pavilion had been promoting everything Australian, from Victorian Food and Wine to importers and food and wine specialists, to the AFL with a focus on the upcoming clash between Brisbane Lions and Melbourne Demons to be played in Shanghai in October.

More events are to be staged over the next five months, subsequently maximising Australia’s opportunity to strengthen links between Australian businesses and government sectors in China.

The World Expo 2010, which opened on May 1 in Shanghai, is expected to attract more than 70 million visitors during its 6 month run.
