Russia is preparing a package of proposals for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 declaration, a Russian deputy minister of industry and trade said on Monday.
The declaration is to become the key document of the event, which opened in Shanghai on May 1 and closes on October 31. More than 180 countries and regions from around the world are taking part.
The Russian deputy minister stressed at the forum that “the competitive advantage of cities in the XXI century will be defined by the development level of the innovative economy.”
“Innovations in the cities can be stimulated by creating technological parks and business incubators, improving administrative and tax regulation and developing venture business. In Russia, all these instruments are being realized,” he said.
The official named among them projects in alternative energy, nuclear energy and medicine. “In these areas, Russia has at least technological parity with the most developed countries and in some avenues is the technological leader.”
The Russian pavilion showed five innovative developments in medicine - an artificial tricuspid valve, a system for Flash DNA-diagnostics, genetically-therapeutic medication to cure cardiovascular diseases, artificial bio-skin, and clothes serving as exerciser to rehabilitate children with disabilities, he said.
The third Expo theme forum devoted to innovation and future of cities ended in the Wuxi, in neighboring Jiangsu Province, on Monday. It gathered more than 800 politicians, officials and scientists.
