Disney Team congratulates UAE Pavilion

2010. 18 August

(wam.ae) A team of executives from Walt Disney International visited the UAE Pavilion today in order to see the media productions that have now been viewed by a million visitors.

Stanley Cheung, Exec. VP of Walt Disney International and Managing Director of Walt Disney Greater China commented on the high production values of the three unique media exhibitions. "I was not sure what to expect, but it certainly exceeded my expectations" he commented.

A five minute introductory film in the Pavilion sets the scene for visitors, plotting the UAE's rapid rise from depression to success. The second show is also the largest pixel bending display in the world and proved to be of particular interest to the Disney team in terms of its innovative projection system and method of portraying people in larger than life mode without visible projectors.

But the film of special interest to Disney was the 'Dream Journey' in which a young Emirati boy invokes the power of a magic pearl to take his Chinese friend on a fantasy journey over, through and under the UAE. The film, directed by Kevin McKiernan and whose executive producer was Peter Vine, was animated by Disney's studios in Hong Kong and John Chu, head of that unit was seeing the film for the first time on the big screen, following thousands of hours of cgi animation. Like other members of the delegation Chu was delighted with the film and strong audience response. "What a journey! What a film!" he remarked when congratulating the UAE team. The UAE Pavilion is one of the most popular pavilions at EXPO with long queues a permanent feature of the site. In addition to displaying the UAE in a most appealing way, the UAE Team is providing over a hundred free holidays for people from China to take their own 'dream journeys' to the UAE. The promotion is sponsored by Emirates Airline, Dubai Tourism (DTCM), Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, TDIC, Emirates Palace Hotel, Jumeirah, Rotana, WAM/AM
