Italy to showcase jewelry excellence

The Italian Culture Ministry on Tuesday presented a breathtaking exhibition on Italy's jewelry excellence and artisan tradition, which will soon open at the Shanghai Expo.
It stands as an important event highlighting a top Italian design which is the synonym of cultural excellence and prestige, said Mario Resca, a senior official with the Culture Ministry.
The private sponsor of the exhibition is Italian jewel giant Bulgari, known worldwide and representing the best of the Made-in- Italy luxury sector today.
The firm will be showcasing its vintage collection of watches, necklaces and rings dating back to the early 1920s in order to demonstrate how Bulgari's activity started from far away, said company CEO Francesco Trapani.
It's also an opportunity to promote Italian jewels in China, where Italian goods enjoy a strong appeal.
Resca stressed that China represented a strategic showcase window for Italy's jewel tradition and art.
"Our jewelry excellence is a winning competitive asset and growth factor for Italy with regard to the rest of the world," said Undersecretary of State Francesco Maria Giro, who urged greater efforts in promoting Italy's immense cultural and artistic heritage.
