Thai Pavilion unveiled

(news.xinhuanet.com) Thai government on Wednesday officially unveiled in detail its presentation in Expo Shanghai China 2010 and introduced the Thai Pavilion as a showcase to provide the world a comprehensive depiction of Thailand's unique culture.

"This is the right time for Thailand to show our great potentials and perform Thailand's vision on eco-friendly society. Moreover, this opportunity will bring a good relationship between Thailand and China," said Issara Somchai,
Minister of Social Development and Human Security, on the release ceremony held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Thailand's largest exhibition center.

Seeing participating in the Expo Shanghai China 2010 a significant chance to promote Thai tourism and to reactivate Thai economy, Issara also believed the Thai Pavilion will become one of the most visited site at the expo.

The World Expo, an every-5-year international event authorized by Bureau of International Exhibition, is scheduled to be held from May 1 to October 31, 2010 in Shanghai, China. Under the theme of "Better City, Better Life", the international expo will focus on creating an eco-friendly society and maintain the sustainable development of human beings in the future by reviving environment.

The theme of Thai presentation in the expo will be "Thainess: Sustainable Way of Life", the ministry said. Inside three Thai-style pavilions, it will be divided into 3 sections: section 1, A Journey of Harmony; section 2, A Harmony of Difference Tones; section 3, A Harmony of Thais.

In addition, there will be the daily Thai cultural performance during the exhibition of 184 days at the outdoor area.

The exhibition area of Thailand will occupy 3,117 square meters, with a total investment of more than 600 million baht (17.62 million U.S. dollars), Thai organizer said.

With Expo Shanghai China 2010's host projecting 70 million visitors from home and abroad, Thai Pavilion is expected to introduce the kingdom to six million visitors during the event.
