UAE Expo 2010 Shanghai website
2009. 5 July
(wam.org.ae)
The UAE yesterday launched a new website, highlighting its participation at EXPO 2010 Shanghai; just ten months before the opening of the nation's physical pavilion at Expo.
The website (www.expo2010uae.com) contains up-to-date information on the UAE and its Expo project and includes an engaging new film: Building the Emirates - Better City, Better Life, that has been produced to show how the UAE is approaching the task of improving its cities.
The website also highlights projects such as Vision 2030 that present the UAE's far-sighted plans for the sustainable development of its capital city, providing a blueprint for cities of the future, worldwide.
Special features on the website include dramatic views of the Foster + Partners - designed pavilion building; information on Expo 2010 Shanghai; a special feature on UAE cities, including an interactive map that permits users to mark chosen locations; an exploration of the 'Better Cities' theme (including a video diary); a special section on culture in the UAE and a cultural calendar for Expo; useful information for people visiting the UAE, whether for business or pleasure or both; together with dedicated business and media sections.
A children's corner features an interactive presentation on the UAE's wildlife, a virtual museum and other features of interest. There are plans to link Chinese children with Emiratis pupils through a forum that addresses the question: 'How can we improve our city?' The website also introduces a special promotion of the UAE to people living in China, offering them the chance to win Dream Tickets' with which they will be able to fly to the UAE and visit some of its finest features.
With over 70 million people expected at Expo 2010 and well over 100 million making virtual visits' via the main Expo website, the UAE is particularly well placed to benefit from its involvement at Expo 2010 Shanghai.
'This website provides a window into the opportunities that exist for individuals, companies and organisations to become involved. It is a big opportunity for local companies and organisations to connect with the Chinese public and market. We see ourselves as a facilitator in this process and the UAE will have a strong presence at Expo 2010', stated a spokesperson for the project.
