Star unit Cityneon wins S$13mil Oman job

2009. 25 April

(theStaronline)SINGAPORE-listed Cityneon Holdings Ltd has clinched a contract worth S$13mil from Oman to design and build the country’s pavilion at the World Expo to be held in Shanghai in 2010.

The company, which is a subsidiary of Star Publications (M) Bhd, will build a 2,000-sq-m country pavilion to showcase the transformation of the sultanate from an ancient gateway of the Silk Road to a modern-day gateway for tourism and development in the Middle East.

Cityneon group managing director Ko Chee Wah says in a statement that the contract has further strengthened the company’s credentials “as a leading designer and builder of exhibition structures and other brand communication tools in the Middle East”.

Cityneon is a provider of services to the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry in East Asia and the Middle East.

The contract is the second undertaken by Cityneon for Oman’s tourism authority and will add to the company’s order book of S$77mil for 2009 to 2012.

The company, whose presence in the Middle East dates back to 1994 when it set up an office in Bahrain, sees the region contributing over a third to group revenue, which stood at S$47.9mil last year.
