Expo cities hold dialogue
2009. 26 April
(cctv.com) Shanghai, the host city of the 2010 World Expo, and Vancouver, which hosted one two decades ago, have conducted a dialogue via satellite link. Experts, scholars and celebrities in culture and arts exchanged ideas about the world event and their cities' development.
The Shanghai-Vancouver dialogue took place on Thursday night Vancouver time, just ahead of one-year count down for the Shanghai World Expo.
The two studios had celebrities from culture and art circles, and officials from the local governments. They discussed the culture, art,and environment of the two cities, and benefits that hosting the World Expo can bring.
Both cities are multicultural metropolises and have much to learn from each other.
The televised event is a good publicity for Shanghai and its World Expo to the viewers in Vancouver. Vancouver will also host a world event next year, the Winter Olympics.
Both Shanghai and Vancouver wish each other success in 2010.
