Shanghai's zoos increasing admissions prices soon

2009. 11 September

by Sara Naumann
(gochina.about.com) The Shanghai Daily reported that the Shanghai Zoo (located in the western part of the city) and the Shanghai Wildlife Park (in eastern Pudong) will be raising their admissions prices by 10 and 30 rmb respectively.

The zoos say their costs are increasing - fair enough - but hopefully these increased fees will translate into improving accommodations and treatment for the animals.

The Shanghai Zoo is undergoing a lot of renovations (as is all of Shanghai) getting ready for the World Expo in 2010. Happily, the zoo is not a scary purgatory where under-nourished animals go to foul their miserable days away.

The Shanghai Zoo is quite a nice experience and, as stated, getting better. It's one of the many things I recommend for families with children to do while in Shanghai. Just now, it's coming at a dearer price.
