British Enterprises Sign Environmental Contracts In Shanghai

Companies from China and The United Kingdom have signed a range of contracts on environmental protection and energy conservation in Shanghai.
The companies signing the contracts include Pilkington Group and Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Company, and Zero Carbon Hub and China Himin Celan Energy Holding Company.
Peter Mandelson, the UK Business Secretary who was visiting Shanghai, expressed his congratulations on the signing of the contracts. Mandelson stated that with the support of the governments, companies from China and the UK will make more headway on the cooperation on "low carbon" technology.
Earlier this year, China and the UK reached consensus on a number of issues including supporting economic growth and social welfare, promoting financial stability and capital market development, strengthening on energy and environment cooperation, and deepening trade and investment cooperation. It is learned that Carbon Dioxide Zero Emission, a program designed by Zero Carbon Hub for a community in the southern part of London has been elected as an item to be displayed at the Best Practice Area of Cities during the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
