Tycoon to lead promotion of Taipei

Hon Hai Group Chairman Terry Gou will act as an ambassador to promote Taipei's participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai, an official said Tuesday.
According to Huang Nan-hui, a consultant of the Hon Hai Education Foundation, Gou decided to provide sponsorship for the city government's participation in the expo because the themes are consistent with Hon Hai's corporate values that emphasize environmental protection and energy conservation.
Gou will also take part in activities to be held by the city government as a warm-up to the exhibition. The activities will include a creativity competition to choose the smile, love letter, logo and image that best represent Taipei, Huang said.
Huang said Hon Hai has hired a renowned art consulting firm to help plan the Taipei Pavilion exhibition and has commissioned an excellent exhibition designer to build the pavilion.
To achieve the goals of environmental protection and energy conservation, the pavilion will be constructed in line with the "3R" principle of reduce, recycle and reuse, he added.
