Thailand's Multi Potential to Be Displayed at Expo 2010

2009. 5 May

(english.cri.cn) Thailand's participation in the Shanghai World Expo 2010, China, is aimed at displaying its multi potential in Thailand Pavilion, including the country's tourism and investment potential, Thailand's Ministry of Social Development and Human Security told Xinhua on Tuesday.

The Shanghai World Expo, scheduled to open on May 1, 2010, with the theme "Better City, Better Life," to mirror the emergence of cities, which is an interesting phenomenon in the history of human civilization.

Altogether 237 countries and international organizations have confirmed attendance to next year's World Expo in China's biggest city Shanghai, organizers of the event announced earlier.

Thailand has constructed its pavilion since early May, 2009, while the construction together with both interior and outer decoration of the pavilion by Thai organizers is scheduled to complete by April, 2010, the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security said.

Thailand's theme at the Shanghai World Expo is "Thainess: Sustainable Way of Life", while the structure, which is to compose three exhibition halls, is almost 3,000 square meters in size, said the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

The three exhibition halls will take global visitors to experience the Thai way of life reflecting the Thai image and culture both in the historic and modern world, amid the globalization.

Ultimately, Thailand hopes the participation in the Shanghai World Expo 2010 will benefit the country in multi dimensions, including strengthening the Sino-Thai relations, the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security said.

Significantly, foreign tourists are expected to have more confidence to visit Thailand in light of the exhibitions in Thailand Pavilion, with mirroring the country's readiness and potential in the tourism and services sector, the Thai Ministry said.

Also, the country will be able to reinforce the international confidence in Thailand as the world kitchen, the Ministry said.

Moreover, the country hopes that foreign investors will have more confidence in long-term investments in Thailand both in the agricultural and manufacturing sector, it said.

In a related development, from April 9, ID2 Joint Venture Company Limited, a Thai multi-business expertise company, has been assigned by the Ministry to be the Official Organizer of Thailand Pavilion in the World Expo Shanghai 2010, China.

Tentatively, on May 18, the Ministry plans to hold a press conference in capital Bangkok to officially announce Thailand's participation in the World Expo Shanghai 2010.
