Minister Virkkunen visits China
2009. 12 November
(finlandatexpo2010.fi) Minister of Education of Finland, Ms. Henna Virkkunen conducts an official visit to Beijing and Shanghai November 9-13, 2009. The aim of the visit is to promote higher education and research collaboration and educational exports between Finland and China.
During the visit Minister Virkkunen will meet China’s Minister of Education, Yuan Guiren and will visit several universities and the Academy of Science of China. The Ministers will sign a memorandum on strenghtening cooperation between the ministries.
In Shanghai, the Minister will make a speech on a Finland day event held at Fudan University introducing Finnish higher education and will discuss the exposure of Finnish know-how during the Shanghai Expo next year with the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Coordination Bureau of World Expo Shanghai China.
During the visit several Finnish institutions of higher education will introduce their operations both at the Finland day event and at a campus tour which aims to promote Finland as an attractive destination of education for the Chinese.
