(mfa.gov.il) Yossi Gal, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today (19 November 2009) concluded working visit to The People's Republic of China. A principal reason for the visit was a high-level political dialogue, which included meetings with Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Dawei and Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun.

The dialogue consisted of a broad range of topics common to both countries, from the bilateral relationship, which was established 18 years ago, to Middle Eastern regional issues, primarily the Iranian nuclear program and the political process with the Palestinians.

Apart from visiting Beijing, the Director-General also visited Shanghai, where he met with senior city officials and dozens of representatives of Israeli companies who operate in the area. D-G Gal also visited the site of the Expo 2010 exhibition, due to open in Shanghai in 2010. The exhibition is scheduled to run for six months, and draw 70 million visitors. The State of Israel has spent NIS 40 million on a unique pavilion, which even now is drawing interest and attention from entities involved with the exhibition.
