Merseyside councils back Expo presence

(liverpooldailypost.co.uk) Merseyside's local authorities have agreed to support Liverpool's presence at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley, Wirral and Halton councils will each become platinum sponsors for the six-month event, costing a total of £90,000.

Cllr Ron Round, chairman of Liverpool City Region Cabinet, said: “Such is the profile of this event, it makes complete sense for all the city region partners to investigate the opportunities it will present in our collective effort to drive up our local economy.”

Liverpool’s Pavilion also has private sector support from a number of companies including Peel Holdings, Enterprise, Arup, Grant Thornton and EA Technology.
