Je t'aime Shanghai

2009. 1 December

by Britany Orwin
(shanghaidaily.com) They’re known for the language of love, the picturesque scenery of the Eiffel Tower and River Seine and now for providing Shanghai couples with the opportunity for their very own free French Wedding.

As part of the 2010 Shanghai Expo, our friends over at the French Pavilion will be providing a classical French-Style garden where loved-up couples can tie the knot with complimentary photos, gifts and professional make-up services.

In true Cinderella-like fashion, couples merely need to turn up in their wedding attire to enjoy this romantic rendezvous. Expo sponsors L’Oreal China, will play Fairy Godmother by showering newly-weds with gifts of their products.

According to French Pavilion spokesmen, Franck Serrano, the six-month-long event will provide couples with the opportunity to have their dream French wedding.

"You don't have to pay, or book, or queue up for it," says Serrano, "Just wear your wedding outfit and enjoy your most romantic time of life here."

Drawing on popular past times of the French Riviera, couples can also test their hand at fate with a bonus lottery, giving them the chance to meet legendary French film icon, Alain Delon or win a week-long honeymoon trip to France .

With the French expected to bring their own Je ne sais quoi to the 2101 Expo, we can expect the French pavilion to be the hub of overzealous amours and Pepe le Pew-esque declarations of love making it more louder and hectic than Paris on Bastille Day, but hey, c'est la vie...
