Brazil promises large participation at 2010 Expo

2009. 5 December

(news.xinhuanet.com) Brazil will have large participation at next year's Shanghai World Expo, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) said on Friday.

"We are finalizing the content of our pavilion with an important agenda of cultural representation, tourism and sports, plus a large business agenda. The Expo will be an opportune time for us to be even closer to our largest trading partner (China)," said Alessandro Teixeira, Apex's president and commissioner for the Shanghai Expo 2010.

The Brazilian Pavilion will be adjacent to those of the United States, Peru and Colombia. To take advantage of the proximity, the commissioners of the four countries have decided to share a cultural program in open space, as well as a business agenda.

In partnership with the Brazil-China Business Council, Apex is inviting entrepreneurs to a meeting on Dec. 11 to present the Apexproject for the Shanghai Expo.

According to an Apex statement, Teixeira recently had a meeting with Hua Junduo, the general commissioner for the 2010 Shanghai Expo.

During the meeting, Hu said the public could choose from more than 100 cultural events a day, spread over 191 pavilions of countries that will also promote lectures and discussions on such topics as information technology, urban development, sustainable living and cultural heritage.

Teixeira expressed thanks for all the support the Shanghai Expo team has given to Brazil.
