Serbia wishes to strengthen ties with China

2009. 13 December

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic met yesterday in Shanghai with the city’s Vice Mayor and Director of Shanghai police Zhang.

(emportal.rs) According to a statement by the Interior Ministry, Zhang said on the occasion that the police cooperation agreement between the Serbian Interior Ministry and the Chinese Public Security Ministry and Dacic’s visit will improve cooperation between the two ministries.

Zhang said that the largest city of China, Shanghai, with a population of 22 million, will organise the world’s largest fair EXPO 2010, which is expected to attract 70 million visitors.

He said that organising security at the fair will be a huge challenge and asked Dacic for logistic support from the Serbian police.

Dacic said that the presidents of Serbia and China have signed a strategic partnership agreement, adding that Serbia wishes to step up cooperation in all areas.

Dacic pledged support for the organisation of EXPO 2010.

He said that his visit to China has been extremely successful and that Serbia should fully utilize the strategic partnership agreement with China.

He said that Serbia and China have very similar positions regarding the international legal order and they support every country’s right to territorial integrity, which is a good basis for the development of cooperation in other areas.

Dacic said that the Chinese Minister of Public Security will visit Serbia next year.

Dacic visited the city exhibition centre, the television tower and the tallest building in the world the Shanghai Financial Centre.

Dacic will wrap up his visit today with a tour of the Shanghai Maglev Train Station.
