Portugal’s PAL-AsiaConsult to build Portugal pavilion at Expo 2010

2009. 18 December

(macauhub.com.mo) Portuguese company PAL AsiaConsult , headquartered in Macau, is to build the Portugal pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, a project estimated to cost around US$4 million, designed by Macau resident Carlos Couto.

PAL director Rui Cernadas Thursday told Portuguese news agency Lusa that the project would cover an area of 1,000 square metres, have a business centre with 150 square metres, and multimedia elements designed by Portuguese company Ydreams.

The Portugal pavilion is due to be concluded at the end of April, as are the exhibition's other pavilions.

Expo 2010 – the biggest international event organised by China since the Beijing Olympics – will be held between 1 May and 31 October and themed “Better City, Better Life.”

Over 200 countries and international organisations have confirmed their presence at the exhibition, which will cover an area of 528 hectares, along the two banks of the Huangpu river, an affluent of the Yangtze, which crosses Shanghai.

The event’s organisers expect 70 million visitors, 5 percent of which will be foreigners.
